The best tennis neighborhoods of Charleston SC – The state of South Carolina is known for being one of the biggest and best tennis states in the US. There is a massive tennis industry in this great state, and none more than in Charleston. In fact, Mount Pleasant has been called the 2nd biggest tennis city in America by tennis magazine. As a real estate sales expert that also plays tennis and also with a son who plays competitive high-level junior tennis (although way better than me), I figured there had to be home buyers that were considering a move to Charleston and looking for the best communities that were heavy tennis-centric neighborhoods. There are quite a few communities that have tennis courts, but there are a few developments that really take tennis seriously, and have staffed pros, hold clinics etc. So let’s break them down. If you want to buy a home in one, then call me, and we’ll go play. View Charleston SC tennis leagues. As an avid tennis player and enthusiast, I follow the best tennis neighborhoods in the state as my son’s tennis tournament journey evolves.
Most of these communities will obviously be either a vacation resort development, or a country club as most would expect, but there are a couple that is not. Below are the best tennis neighborhoods & best tennis programs around Charleston SC for those who want to move or purchase a home in or around Charleston, Mt Pleasant, or Daniel Island.
SNEE FARM COUNTRY CLUB
Snee Farm Country Club is in Mount Pleasant SC, a suburb of Charleston with great schools, close to the beaches, and not far from downtown Charleston. The club has 10 hard courts, and 8 clay courts, offers instruction, clinics, junior camps, and clinics, and has on-staff pros. Their junior program is one of the best in South Carolina with some of the best high-school college prospects coming from their club every year. For more information visit https://sneefarmtennis.com/. Membership to the country club is NOT required to buy a home in the neighborhood, but membership is required to play. Non-members can play without being a member so long as they pay to be in a clinic, or tennis-only membership group etc.

CREEKSIDE TENNIS & SWIM CLUB
One of the lesser-known but best non-country club tennis programs and facilities in Charleston is also located in Mount Pleasant. The Creekside club is located in a neighborhood called Creekside Park, which has all the same things as most country clubs would with the exception of not having a golf course. The facility has 10 hard courts currently, with clay courts planned for the future by 2025 or earlier. Their young juniors program is one of the, if not the best in the state for kids 15 and under, run by the tennis program owner/director Joanne Lee. Their tennis program also offers private junior & adult lessons, clinics, and club tournaments, and is a great overall environment for those getting into the game for the first time or seasoned club players. Membership is not required to play in their various programs, however, members do get a discount on the clinics and lessons with the pros. DUNES WEST COUNTRY CLUB
Dunes West Country Club (also in Mount Pleasant) is a large mega housing development in north Mt Pleasant. Their club features 6 asphalt hard courts and 3 clay, complemented by viewing pavilions and a pro shop. The tennis center, managed by Director of Tennis Jack Miller, offers a variety of tennis programs including camps, league play, group clinics, and private lessons for all ages. For competitive play, The Racquet Club at Dunes West offers more than 20 USTA Leagues, CALTA (Charleston Area Ladies Tennis Association), and a USTA Junior Team. With this neighborhood being so far away from downtown Charleston and the beaches, if you live closer to the bridge to downtown this tennis club would not be ideal. DANIEL ISLAND & DANIEL ISLAND PARK CLUB
Daniel Island is a suburban town in Charleston about 10 mins from Mount Pleasant. This is where the Credit One Open lady’s tournament is held each year (formally known as the Family Circle Cup in Hilton Head). Daniel Island while not a neighborhood the island itself is not that big, and many people just drive golf carts around. Daniel Island has the LTP (Live to Play) Pate Tennis Academy facility on the island, and another facility in their Mount Pleasant location which features 9 clay courts, 7 hard courts. Their Mount Pleasant location offers a full academy experience for juniors who wish to play full-time tennis and do their studies at home or online. As far as Daniel Island is concerned, the LTP facility is located on Seven Farms Dr. and has 18 courts comprised of hard and clay. For more information visit https://www.ltptennis.com/ltp.
On the Daniel Island Park side of the island (where the club is), there are more tennis courts and tennis facilities to enjoy. This is the only grass court in South Carolina (that I am aware of). To play at Daniel Island Club you do have to be a member or be with a member as their guest. LTP is not part of or associated with Daniel Island Park simply has its own set of tennis courts and club facilities for its members only. They have 13 clay courts, one grass court, and two hard courts. For more information visit https://www.danielislandclub.com/tennis-fitness
