Welcome to Camden, the oldest inland city-in South Carolina. The home at 1710 Fair Street was built about 1890 by Mr. and Mrs. William Redding DeLoache on property given to them by Mrs. DeLoache's father, Eugene Capers Zemp. The three-story frame house has an off-center front door entrance which was typical of the period in which it was constructed. The bay windows on the south side create interesting octagon shaped rooms on two floors. Since no closets were included in the orginal plan, fireplaces were removed to create closets. In 1972, under the direction of architect Henry Boykin, the kitchen was modernized and the two back porches were removed and converted into a Florida Room with wet-bar. The kitchen has an original fireplace with gas logs and beautiful brick center island. The office, just off the kitchen, has a fireplace with gas logs and custom builtin cabinetry. The home has 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 2 half baths, hardwood floors, high ceilings and a downstairs primary ensuite bedroom. The home is located in Camden's Historic District on an approximately .9 acre lot. Please note the home does not have working heat or air-conditioning on the second floor or the front half of the first floor. The 1710 Fair Street home is in a perfect location and a must see.
