In 2012 Timberlake suffered a serious threat of closing if not for the members stepping in to help prop it up as the economic recession laid waste to hundreds of clubs around the United States. Instead of watching home values crash as the golf course is abandoned, nearby residents banded together to buy the course — even if it meant running it themselves as long as necessary.
