The Charles was once branded and marketed originally as St Mary’s Field. However, these soon to be new Luxury townhomes coming to the peninsula of downtown historic Charleston SC will begin construction this year after long-awaited anticipation. Now known as The Charles according to the builder/developers (The Beach Co) this newest gorgeous luxury townhouse project is slated to be finished in 2022, but my team can make reservations now if you contact me directly. The Charles townhome will be 2,400-square-foot of luxury showing off spectacular views of the Ashley River and historic Charleston peninsula, with only the highest quality finishes, materials, and design, ground-floor garage parking, individual elevators, spacious living areas, and private rooftop terraces.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Located at the prime location of Broad Street and Lockwood Boulevard along the Ashley River, while complementing the adjoining historic neighborhood and providing a new waterfront park for all to enjoy. The property will be made up of a waterfront park and 20 single-family attached townhomes for sale. According to the developer: “while the area’s zoning rules allow for a higher-density project up to 34 units, the reduced unit count is reflective of our efforts to increase open space and improve ongoing infrastructure enhancements in the immediate area”. More than 75 percent of the real property will remain open space and/or contain hardscape or soft landscaping. Similar in design this but already available are Halsey Park townhomes in the Harleston Village as well.
Local mega developers The Beach Co. acquired the site this adjacent to the former 14-story Sergeant Jasper apartment building, which, after a lengthy legal challenge, has been largely demolished to make way for new development, also by The Beach Co. These limited luxury, uniquely designed, waterfront townhomes will definitely go quickly but as of yet the developers and their sales team have not released pricing, but I expect they will likely start at $3.5 Million.
Each individual unit will have its own formal front entries, limestone exteriors, and large, expansive window areas in keeping with design requirements consistent with that of the historic peninsula.
The anticipated start date for the project is summer 2020 with a target completion date of late 2021.
The design team for the project is comprised of renowned architects and engineers including Antunovich Associates (architect); DesignWorks (landscape architect); and Forsberg Engineering (civil engineer).
